Tappt is an app that helps people find nearby activities. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Data we collect

When you use Tappt, we collect the following information that you provide directly:

• Account information: Email address (for authentication via email magic link or Sign in with Apple) and first name. If you sign in with Apple, your first name is only shared with us on the first sign-in and only if you choose to share it.
• Waitlist information: Email address you provide if you join the waitlist through our website or through the app when Tappt is not yet available to you
• Interests: The interests you enter during onboarding and later in your profile
• Event activity: Which events you save, dismiss, or share in the app

We also collect some data automatically:

• Analytics events: App opens, interest additions, and event interactions to understand how the app is used
• Device tokens: For delivering push notifications
• Crash and diagnostic data: When the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics collects information about the crash including device model, OS version, and the state of the app at the time. This is used to fix bugs.

To support passwordless email sign-in, we may temporarily store your email address on your device until sign-in is completed.

How we use your data

• Personalization: Your interests, mode, and home area are used to generate and rank events in your feed
• Event generation: Aggregated interest and demand signals are used to generate AI-powered event suggestions. We send interest keywords and curation inputs to our AI provider, but not your name or email address
• Waitlist notifications: If you join the waitlist through our website or through the app, we use your email address to let you know when Tappt becomes available to you
• Notifications: We send push notifications for new events and other product updates related to your interests
• Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to understand app usage patterns and improve the product

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal data to third parties
• We do not serve ads
• We do not track your location

Third-party services

Tappt uses the following third-party services to operate:

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database, file storage, push notifications, analytics, and crash reporting (Crashlytics)
• Apple — Sign in with Apple authentication. When you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple provides an identity token that we exchange with Firebase to authenticate you. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email" relay, we only receive the relay address.
• OpenAI — Interest normalization and event generation using interest keywords and curation inputs; we do not send names or email addresses
• Google Places API — Venue verification for generated events

These services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

Data retention

Your account data is retained as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your profile data is removed. Event history and internal curation records may be retained in archived form for operational and analytics purposes.

Your choices

• You can edit or remove your interests at any time from your profile
• You can disable push notifications in your device settings
• You can sign out at any time from your profile
• You can delete your account from your profile, which removes your personal data from our servers

Children's privacy

Tappt is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app.
